Although the holidays are often fondly referred to as "the most wonderful time of the year," they can also be the most expensive time of the year! Between gifts, parties, loads of food, decor and more, holiday spending adds up FAST. That's why we decided to come up with this easy Christmas door decor idea that shouldn't cost you more than $10 to make, and the result is a festive way to welcome family and friends home this holiday season. So grab a tube of Aleene's Super Fabric Adhesive and check out this tutorial on how to make a personalized holiday wreath for your door using an embroidery hoop and flannel fabric.
What you need:- Aleene's Super Fabric Adhesive
- Aleene's Crystal Clear Tacky Spray
- Embroidery hoop
- Flannel fabric with family name
- Winterberry branches
- Garland
- Salt
- Scissors
Lay your fabric with name out flat on your work surface. (You can use a cutting machine and iron-on vinyl to create, or fabric paint if you don't have access to a cutting machine.) Separate the embroidery hoop and place the backing underneath the fabric, centered.
Add a line of Super Fabric Adhesive around the inside of the top piece of embroidery hoop.
Press the top piece in place down over the bottom piece. Flip over and tighten, then let the glue dry.
Trim excess fabric from around hoop.
Working with one winterberry branch at a time, spray with Tacky Spray and immediately dip into a bowl (or plate) of salt to coat berries and created a frosted look. Repeat for each berry branch and let dry.
Place garland around top of hoop to determine placement and trim any excess if needed. Add a line of glue around top of embroidery hoop.
Press garland in place and let dry. Tip: You can use clothespins to securely hold garland while drying.
Finish by gluing frosted winterberries throughout garland along the top of wreath. Let dry completely.
Hang your new Christmas door decor wreath in place and you're ready to welcome everyone home this holiday season!
