Lay your fabric flat onto a protected work surface. Saturate 2 yards of fabric with Aleene’s Stiffen Quik Fabric Stiffening Spray. For this project, you’ll need 1-2 bottles of fabric stiffening spray depending on your desired level of hold. Allow the fabric to dry completely before proceeding.

Step 2: Create wire ovals for bow tree topper

Create two ovals out of wire, using tape to secure the ends. These ovals will be the base for the loops on your bow tree topper.

Step 3: Fold the stiffened fabric into thirds

Step 4: Fold the stiffened fabric inward

Fold the short ends of the stiffened fabric inwards to the center between the wire ovals.

Step 5: Secure the bow tree topper with fabric glue

Use Aleene’s Permanent Fabric Glue to glue down the ends of the fabric. Scrunch the fabric together in the center to create your bow loops, then wrap the center with wire to secure.

Step 6: Tie the center knot on the bow tree topper

Tie a folded strip of fabric in the middle of your bow loops to create the center knot. Slide a piece of wire underneath the knot— this will be used to attach your bow tree topper to your Christmas tree!

Step 7: Create the bow tree topper ribbons

Cut a four-yard piece of fabric down the middle and glue the raw edges inward. These two long strips of fabric will be the ribbon hanging from your bow tree topper! Decorate your Christmas tree as desired while you wait for the glue to dry completely.

Step 8: Assemble the bow tree topper and display!
