How to Create a Diamond Painting with Rhinestone Adhesive
What is Diamond Painting?
Creating a unique piece of artwork is a rewarding experience especially when you combine traditional painting with the modern twist of diamond painting. Diamond painting is the relaxing craft where you create sparkling mosaic designs onto existing art. Here we show you how easy it can be done using Aleene’s adhesives.
Supplies
- Aleene’s Rhinestone Adhesive
- Aleene’s Acrylic Sealer Spray (optional)
- Blank framed canvas
- Paints in desired colors
- Paintbrushes
- Plate for paint palette
- Diamond drills in complementary colors
- Diamond art picking tool
- Diamond art grooved tray
Step 1: Paint Entire Canvas with Blue Background
Start your diamond painting with a solid base color background. Here we painted ours blue for our fish designs to swim in. Let dry completely.
Step 2: Paint Orange Fish onto Blue Canvas
With the background in place, begin painting the fish’s base colors. Let dry completely.
Step 3: Add Painted Details to Design
Once the base colors of your fish have dried, use smaller brushes to add details and texture to your artwork. Focus on the scales, fins, and tail to bring the fish to life. Use other colors to add water accents and surrounding designs. Experiment with different brush strokes and blending techniques to create depth and dimension. Let dry completely.
Step 4: Apply Glue to Painting
Step 5: Add Diamond Drills to Diamond Painting
Using your diamond art picker, pick up each diamond drill and place them onto the areas you have selected for your drills.
Step 6: Continue Adding Diamond Drills to Diamond Painting
Add complementary colored diamond drills to areas of the painting for textured effects. To protect your painting and keep the diamond drills in place, you can optionally apply a sealant spray over the entire piece.
