Step 1: Determine hemline on pants

First things first, try on your pants with the shoes you plan to wear. This will help you determine the perfect length. Use your ruler or measuring tape to measure how much fabric you'll need to take off. Once you've decided on the new hemline, use chalk or a fabric marker to mark the desired length. Lay your pants flat on a clean surface and cut off the excess fabric, leaving about an inch for the hem. This extra inch will be folded inside to create a clean edge. Don't worry if your cut isn't perfect—you're going to cover it up anyway.

Step 2: Apply glue to hem of pants

Turn your pants inside out and fold the hem to the new length. Apply Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion between the folded fabric layers. Be careful to align the edges neatly for a professional finish.

Step 3: Iron glued hem on pants

Set your iron to the appropriate setting for your fabric type. Place a cloth or pressing cloth over the hem to protect the material and press the iron onto it. Hold the iron in place for about 10-15 seconds to activate the glue. Repeat this process along the entire hem, making sure the glue adheres properly. Allow the glue to cool completely before turning your pants right side out. This cooling process ensures that the glue sets correctly and provides a strong bond.

Step 4: Let cool, turn pants right side out and wear!

Once cooled, try on your pants to check the new length and ensure the hem is secure. If needed, you can go over any loose spots with the iron to reinforce the glue.

And there you have it—a perfectly hemmed pair of pants with no sewing required! This method not only saves time but also extends the life of your clothes, promoting a more sustainable wardrobe. So go ahead and return to the office with confidence, knowing your pants are looking sharp and tailored.
