How to Make a Giant Bow with Fabric Glue
Creating a giant bow to hang on a wall is a great way to add a wow factor to any room. A giant bow can be a fantastic addition to everyday or a holiday décor Christmas bow. Here we show you how to create a stunning giant bow using your choice of fabric and Aleene’s adhesives.
Supplies:
• Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion
• Aleene’s Stiffen Quick Fabric Stiffening Spray
• Fabric of choice (amount will vary on size of bow)
• Scissors
• Zip ties
• Iron
• Thin cloth
Step 1: Choose & Cut Fabric for Giant Bow
First decide how big you want your giant bow to be. A good size for a wall-hanging giant bow is about 24-36 inches wide. You will need four different sizes of pieces to assemble the giant bow: large piece to use for the loops, small piece to use for a center, and two long pieces to use for the tails.
Step 2: Spray Fabric with Stiffen-Quick
Spray all pieces of your giant bow with Aleene’s Stiffen Quick Fabric Stiffening Spray to help create a stiffer giant bow. Use Aleene’s Insta-Fuse adhesive according to package instructions to create finished edges on all pieces.
Step 3: Gather Together Center of Large Fabric Piece
Accordion fold together the center of your loop fabric to create the two side loops of your giant bow. Secure with a zip tie.
Step 4: Create Finishing Piece for Center Knot
Using smallest piece of fabric create a center knot. Wrap center knot piece around gathered center of giant bow. Apply Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion and use according to package instructions to secure center knot piece in place.
Step 5: Assemble your Giant Bow & Hang
Now it’s time to assemble the giant bow. Lay out your giant bow loops on your work surface. Place the tails underneath the loops, letting them hang down. Secure the center where all the pieces meet with Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion. Spray giant bow with more Aleene’s Stiffen Quick if desired. Now that your giant bow is assembled, fluff it up! Gently pull and adjust the loops and tails until it looks full and balanced. This step can take a bit of time, but it will be worth it. Next use command hooks or nails to hang your giant bow depending on your preference and the weight of your giant bow. Ensure it is securing fastened and then step back and admire your giant bow!
