DIY Teacher Appreciation Gift with Tacky Glue

Whether it’s back-to-school season, Teacher Appreciation Week or the end of the school year, we love to celebrate our teachers and the hard work they do! This cute shadowbox teacher appreciation gift idea from LuluMake comes together easily with Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue and your own creative touch. Your student can get in on the DIY fun too by helping make the project or creating a special card to go with the gift!

What you need:
Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
- Shadowbox
- Wooden peg doll
- Acrylic paints of choice + paintbrush
- Felt pompoms
- Paintbrush or pencil for a shadowbox decoration
- Animal-shaped ruler or bookmark
- Small tubes of paint
- Beads
- Wood letters to spell teacher’s name

Step 1 Items for teacher gift

Before you get started on the teacher appreciation gift, LuluMake suggests asking your child about their teacher’s favorite colors and school subjects as a way to decide what to include. Or you can use items that reflect your child’s academic interests or what they’re learning about/have learned about during the school year.

Step 2 Paint peg doll with acrylic paints

Paint a wooden peg doll with acrylic paints to represent your student or their teacher, or simply however youd like to paint it! When its dry, apply Tacky Glue to the back side and press in place on your shadowbox base.

Step 3 Glue pompoms in a rainbow around doll

Rainbows are a colorful way to represent cheer and happy memories! Use your pompoms to create a rainbow around the wooden peg doll, gluing each in place in color order.

Step 4 Include other school themed items in the design

If your child likes math or maybe their favorite teacher is a math teacher you can include numbers in the shadowbox design, or other items like paintbrushes and pencils to represent other subjects or a school theme in general.

Step 5 Glue letters in place on frame

Next glue the teachers name along the top of the frame using wood letters. Tip from LuluMake: Dont worry if you accidentally apply too much glue and some seeps out when you press the items in place. You can easily wipe the glue away with a damp cloth or cotton swab while its still wet!

Step 6 Continue gluing school-themed items to frame

Continue gluing school-themed items around the frame, such as rulers, paint tubes and other colorful objects that represent your child or their teacher.

Step 7 Assemble shadowbox and give as a gift!

Once everything has completely dried, assemble the shadowbox and gift it to your childs teacher. We know theyll love such a thoughtful, heart-made gift! This is some A+ creativity, dont you think?
