Custom Charm Necklace with Jewelry and Metal Glue

Making your own custom charm necklace is a whimsical way to express your personal style and creativity. Grab your glue and get ready to let your individuality shine with this one-of-a-kind DIY!

Supplies needed:

Aleene’s Jewelry & Metal Glue

3-layer chain necklace

Assorted trinkets and charms

Large jump rings

Glue-on pendant bails

Sandpaper

2 Needle nose pliers

Step 1: Gather materials

Gather the materials needed for your custom charm necklace. Almost any trinket can be turned into a necklace charm as long as the back is flat. Try using vintage buttons, earrings, small watches, rings, photos, keys, brooches, and more!

Step 2: Prepare necklace charms

Roughen the back of the necklace charms with sandpaper, then clean to remove any dust or debris.

Step 3: Apply Jewelry & Metal Glue

Apply a small amount of Aleene’s Jewelry & Metal Glue to the back of the trinket where the pendant bail will be placed. Place the flat side of the pendant bail onto the adhesive, then use needle nose pliers to clamp the surfaces together for several seconds until bonded. Place the finished necklace charm aside and repeat to create as many DIY charms as you’d like for your custom charm necklace! 

Step 4: Attach necklace charms

Once the jewelry glue has dried completely, begin attaching the necklace charms to the chains. Use pliers to open the jump ring, thread the ring through the pendant bail, link the jump ring in your desired position, then close the jump ring. Repeat this process to attach all your DIY charms to your custom charm necklace!
