Step 1: Gather materials
Gather the materials needed for your custom weekend travel bag. For this project, Jackie Gill is embellishing a bright pink weekender bag with bow-shaped chenille patches using Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive. Ensure the chenille patches you’re using for this DIY do not have a heat-activated backing— iron-on patches won’t work with this glue.
Step 2: Arrange patches
Before you start gluing, arrange the chenille patches onto the weekender bag as desired. Experiment with the placement of the patches until you are satisfied with the overall design. This DIY features bows in rainbow colors, but you can customize your weekend travel bag with monogram letters, assorted patches, or other embellishments that suit your style!
Step 3: Apply adhesive
Once you’re satisfied with the placement of patches, apply Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive to the back of each patch.
Step 4: Press into place
Place the glued patch onto your weekender bag and press firmly to secure. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the remaining patches for your custom weekend travel bag.
Step 5: Let dry & enjoy!
Let the glue to cure completely, then your custom weekend travel bag is ready for your next adventure!
