DIY Dog Costume: No-Sew Burger with Felt Glue
If you’re like us you love dressing up your dogs for Halloween with DIY dog costumes! Get your pets in on the spooky season festivities with an adorable no-sew burger costume! This tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to make a tasty-looking hamburger costume for your pets using Aleene’s Felt & Foam Tacky Glue. Halloween has never looked so cute!
What you need:Step 1
Use knife to cut your foam ball into 4 pieces for this burger costume. The top rounded piece will be the top bun, the second piece will be the patty, third will be the bottom bun. Set aside the bottom rounded piece for another craft project!
Step 2Cut a circle of tan felt to fit the top rounded piece, leaving approximately 3 inches around the edges to fold to the underside.
Step 3Use Aleenes Felt & Foam Tacky Glue to glue the felt in place. Optionally, you can secure the felt in place temporarily with straight pins while the glue dries. You'll want the felt to be nice and taut as to eliminate any creases in your DIY dog costume!
Step 4Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the third piece of your foam ball to create the bottom bun.
Step 5This classic burger costume wouldnt be complete without sesame seeds on the bun! Use scissors to cut out seeds from white felt and glue to the top bun.
Step 6Next, you’ll want to create a juicy patty for your dog’s burger costume! Take the second piece of the foam ball and paint all sides brown. Add extra details, such as grill marks and shading, for a more realistic patty. Set aside to dry completely.
Step 7While the patty is drying, cut some felt to create toppings for your DIY dog costume. For this project, Oh Yay Studio made lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and cheese. Get creative with the details to make a one-of-a-kind burger costume for your pup! Try making felt onions, mushrooms, bacon, or any other combination of condiments and toppings!
Step 8Once the paint and glue have dried, it's time to start assembling your dogs burger costume! Remove any pins and begin layering your burger. Start with the bottom bun, then glue down your lettuce, patty, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, and any other toppings. Lastly, glue down the top bun and squeeze the burger together to ensure everything is properly adhered.
Step 9Once the burger costume has set, add elastic or ribbon to the bottom to fit your dog's body. Secure with glue and allow to dry completely.
Step 10Its finally time to dress up your pup! Be sure to snap some photos of this adorable DIY dog costume before the Halloween festivities begin.
