DIY Faux Stained Glass Keychains
Here’s a fun craft that’s incredibly easy and makes for a great gift or treat for yourself … because we all carry keys, and everyone needs a keychain! With a little paint and Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue, you can create a stained glass look on a keychain or any other trinket. Crafterward will walk you through how to put together your faux stained glass keychain and finish it with Aleene’s Acrylic Matte Sealer to add an extra layer of protection.
What you need:- Aleene’s Acrylic Sealer – Matte Finish
- Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
- Plexiglass flower with keyring hole
- Paint in desired colors + white
- Small wooden circle
- Paintbrush
- Bowl for mixing glue/paints
- Keychain hardware
Step 1
Mix about a tablespoon of Aleenes Clear Gel Tacky Glue with a VERY small drop of paint in your desired color. Keep mixing until the glue takes on the color of the paint this will create that transparent color you see with stained glass. (Thats why you only want a SMALL amount of paint, so the mixture doesn't become opaque.) Then, paint your plexiglass flower and allow it to dry completely.
Step 2Paint your wooden circle white and allow to dry.
Step 3Spray your painted plexiglass flower with Aleenes Acrylic Matte Sealer to give it a smooth matte finish, and to help keep the paint from wearing. Don't over spray, a little goes a long way!
Step 4After the sealant dries, glue your white circle onto your flower and let everything completely dry.
Step 5Now it's time to add your keychain hardware!
Step 6Wasn't it so easy to create your own faux stained glass? You can try this same technique on other items too! Enjoy taking this cute little keychain everywhere you go! Now that you know how to make these stained glass crafts, have fun coming up with your own projects. P.S. Don't forget to share with us tag us on social @aleenesdiy!
