What you need:- Aleene’s Leather & Suede Glue
- Leather purse (or other item)
- Cotton, canvas or other natural-fiber fabric – color to match leather or as desired
- Scissors
- Damp cloth
Step 1
If you have a new bottle of Aleenes Leather & Suede Glue, youll need to cut off the tip of the nozzle before you get started. The great thing about the nozzle on this glue is that you can cut it to meet your glue flow needs. Each ridge on the applicator tip marks a point where you can cut the tip to increase glue flow. The top ridge indicates minimal glue flow for working with small projects and embellishments, while the bottom ridge allows for maximum glue flow when cut at this point.
Step 2Next add a thin line of glue into the tear on your leather bag/item.
Step 3Press the sides of the tear together as closely as possible. Wipe away any excess Leather & Suede Glue with a damp cloth.
Step 4Cut out a small swatch of fabric into a flower shape or any shape you like. Just make sure its large enough to cover the tear! Add Leather & Suede Glue to the back of the fabric patch and press in place over the tear. This will help reinforce the bond under the stress of daily wear and tear and add a fun decorative element to your bag!
Step 5Let the glue repair dry completely, then your leather handbag/item is ready to use. See, no awkward stains or discoloration from the glue!
Step 6Not just for repairs, you can also use Aleenes Leather & Suede Glue for making home dcor, leather jewelry and embellishing your leather clothing and accessories with beads, fringes, trims, patches and more!
