Seal Your Painted Rocks with Acrylic Spray Sealer

Painted rocks have been a popular craft for kids the past few years, but we happen to think they’re great for grownups too! Depending on the size and shape of the rocks you find or purchase, you can use them as coasters, pretty accents in your home, or even garden decorations! Color Made Happy will give you some fun inspiration for painting rocks with bright colors and doodle designs, sealed to perfection with Aleene’s Spray Acrylic Sealer. (You’ll want to keep your rock creations from fading and chipping, whether you have them on your coffee table or in your garden!)

What you need:
- Aleene’s Spray Acrylic Sealer – Gloss or Matte
- Santorini stones
- COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints and Paint Markers
- Paint palette
- Paintbrushes

Step 1 Wipe down rocks to clean any dust

Before getting started on painting your rocks, wipe them down to make sure there isnt any dust on them. If you arent feeling confident about getting straight to painting your designs, you can also use a pencil to lightly sketch them onto your rocks first.

Step 2 Doodle on rocks with paint markers

Prep your paint markers according to instructions, then use them to start doodling the base elements of your designs on the rocks. You can create specific designs and patterns, or just have fun and experiment with abstract/organic shapes.

Step 3 Add details to designs with acrylic paint

Accent your doodle designs using a small liner brush and acrylic paint. You can add details to the designs themselves, and/or fill in spaces between designs with extra details.

Step 4 Seal with Aleenes Spray Sealer

Once youre finished painting the rocks, let them dry completely. Dont forget to seal them! Aleenes Spray Acrylic Sealers dry with a clear, durable and weatherproof finish, so youll definitely want to use a sealer to protect your rocks before putting them on display especially outdoors. Follow instructions when using the Acrylic Spray Sealer, applying several light coats instead of one heavy coat to prevent drips and pooling.

Step 5 Gloss finish

If you prefer for your rocks to have a super shiny finish like shown here, opt for the Gloss Sealer.

Step 6 Matte finish

If you want less dramatic shine and a subtle sheen, go with the Matte Sealer instead!
