Step 1 Sun and rainbow craft supplies

For this easy paper craft for kids, have the kids start by sorting the buttons into the same color families.

Step 2 Glue buttons to ribbons

Cut strands of twill ribbon to whatever length the kids would like for their sun, then glue various buttons of the same color family down the length of each ribbon and let dry.

Step 3 Paint plate yellow

Use a foam brush and yellow acrylic paint to paint the back side of the paper plate yellow. Once its dry, cut the plate in half.

Step 4 Glue triangles around the top rim

Next cut triangles from the yellow cardstock and glue around the top rim of the painted plate.

Step 5 Glue ribbons to sun

Glue the ribbon strands with buttons to the base of the plate. Let dry completely.

Step 6 Create face on sun

To finish this easy paper craft for kids, glue googly eyes onto the sun and use a marker to draw a smile below the eyes. Glue a button on each side of the smile to create dimples.
